National award nominee

Nectar is sweet!

Great news for the Neon Play dream team. Just seven days after scooping our first ever awards at the prestigious (in Cirencester) Cirencester Business Awards, we've been nominated in a national business awards.

A small business from Cirencester has been shortlisted in the Nectar Business Small Business Awards 2011, in the Start-Up of the Year category. Neon Play - which creates iPad and iPhone games for the Apple’s App Store - is just weeks away from hearing if they will pick up the accolade, judged by business woman and star of hit show The Apprentice, Karren Brady.

Oli Christie, the founder of Neon Play, started the business following a successful career designing games for various global brands. In less than a year the business has grown to employ 12 people, has seen over 18 million downloads of its apps and has ambitious plans for further growth within the booming mobile games market.

Thanks to the business’ success in its early months of trading, Neon Play is in with a good chance of winning the prize of £2,000 and 50,000 Nectar points along with the prestigious title.

Oli commented: “I’m so pleased to be shortlisted in the Nectar Business Small Business Awards – the recognition makes all the hard work worth it. I’m a huge believer in the power of PR, and the extra media attention from winning a high profile award could be great news for the business. The £2,000 prize money and 50,000 Nectar points will help us treat our employees to thank them for all their hard work".

Neon Play was just one of hundreds of hugely successful and dedicated small UK enterprises that entered the Nectar Business Small Business Awards. The entry will now be judged by a panel of experts, including Karren Brady who will decide the final winner of this category alongside small business journalist Guy Clapperton, Marketing Director at Nectar, James Frost and Merchandising and Marketing Director for UK and Ireland Office Depot, John O’Keeffe.

James Frost, Marketing Director at Nectar says: “Start-Up Business of the Year Award is a new award for 2011 that will reward a new company that is set for an exciting and profitable future. In challenging economic times, these individuals have worked really hard and sometimes taken risks to get their companies up and running. We wish all the Start-Up businesses, including Neon Play, the best of luck in this competitive category.”
